Common questions
Questions about the printable charts
Are the recorder fingering charts really free?
Yes. The charts and PDFs are free for teachers, parents and students — print them, photocopy them for a class, and hand them out. The only thing we ask is that you do not resell them.
Why is there a separate chart for each instrument?
Because the note names change. A soprano and tenor are C instruments (all holes covered gives C); an alto and bass are F instruments (the same fingering gives F). The finger patterns are shared — only the names on the page differ.
How do I keep the chart to one page when printing?
Use the download button for the PDF version — it is already laid out as a single page. If you print from the browser, choose "print to one page" or scale 90% in the print dialog.
